This is definitely one of those new movies that you really need to go an see in person. You almost must see this in theaters before you go and watch it on the internet. With Hollywood making all the remakes of older movies these days, its really nice to see something that is a completely new idea being thrown out there into movies. One of the downsides to this movie is that it seems a little far fetched at times. I mean seriously…the ability to use 100% of our brain. It seems to me this is more Fi than Sci.This movie will definitely captivate your mind with various thoughts and feelings. IF this movie were actually possible, I think mankind would eventually destroy itself. It doesn’t seem like it would be very smart to put that much power into anyone or anything.

I was really excited when I saw the first trailer for this movie. I love most of the movies that Matt Damon has starred in. I was right as usual in that this was a really good movie. If you have ever wondered about what happens after you die this has got to be the movie for you. It kind of reminds me of Inception in the camera angles, lighting, and overall acting. It is very similar to me. I have a feeling that if you enjoyed the movie Inception then you will love this movie. The difference between the movies I would say is the plot. Well other than the obvious reasons (two different story lines) the main difference to me is that Hereafter has three different stories that eventually come together in the end. Its actually quite beautiful is you ask this critic. All in all this movie is very much worth watching at least once. It may make you think a little bit, which is no problem for most of you I am sure! I hope you find this movie as intriguing as I did. I have added the trailer that enticed me so much to see the movie. As always, you can find it at the top (as if you didn’t notice it already).

So I know all of you are looking forward to seeing this movie at some point. If you are like me, you live in a town where its impossible to get tickets. The nearest place to me that has tickets for Thursdays showing is 250 miles away. This movie has just been too big of a hit. I was searching around the internet and have probably found one of the better TS copies out of any movie I have ever seen. I guess thats what happens when you make a movie so popular you cant get tickets to it. I still plan on watching it in theaters as I hope you will too, but STG has made it possible for us to watch it in our own home before DVD. Here is the synopsis (which contains spoilers) so you can get an idea written by IMDB user joeb154 who is truly a badass for writing this:

Scarred by his experience at the Ministry of Magic with Voldemort, Harry is reluctant to return to Hogwarts. Dumbledore encourages him to continue, after taking him to see a former professor, Horace Slughorn, hoping that Slughorn would return to Hogwarts and take Harry under his wing.

Meanwhile, Death Eaters begin to wreck havoc both towards Muggles, destroying the Millennium Bridge, and Wizards, kidnapping the wandmaker Mr. Ollivander and destroying his Diagon Alley shop. Bellatrix Lestrange entreats Severus Snape to enter an Unbreakable Vow with Draco Malfoy’s mother, Narcissa, assuring that he will complete the task assigned to Draco should Draco fail and that he will protect him and make sure he doesn’t get hurt. Harry, Ron and Hermione, while in Diagon Alley, spot Draco entering Borgin and Burkes and taking part in a ritual with other Death Eaters, and become suspicious of his actions.

At Hogwarts, the school is under tight security to prevent the Death Eaters from entering the school. With Slughorn back to teach Potions, Snape is given Defense Against the Dark Arts. Harry and Ron are encouraged by Professor McGonagall to take up Potions now that Slughorn, with lower standards, is teaching the class; however, as neither was expecting to take the course, they are given textbooks. Harry’s book is annotated with more exact instructions to complete potions, giving him an edge over the other students, and finds that it once belonged to the “Half-Blood Prince”, a term Hermione cannot figure out. Meanwhile, Ron becomes the successful Gryffindor’s Quidditch goalie, attracting the love of Lavender Brown, much to Hermione’s chagrin. Harry is also upset over Ginny’s attraction to Dean Thomas. During the Christmas Break while Harry and Ron are at the Burrow, the Death Eaters come intending to kidnap Harry, but are forced to retreat after they are outnumbered by Order of the Phoenix members. Before they leave they set fire to the Burrow, and the Weasleys are gathered outside the house, leaving Harry regretting the evil that he has brought down upon people he cares about.

Dumbledore reveals to Harry through the Pensieve memories of Tom RiddleVoldemort’s original nameincluding a false memory from Slughorn, when Riddle asked him about a certain resistricted Dark Art. The memory fails to reveal this art, and Dumbledore believes that the key to defeating Voldemort is to learn what Dark Art Riddle asked about, and instructs Harry to further confide himself to Slughorn. Using a Luck potion he won earlier in the school year, Harry is able to bring Slughorn to be intoxicated with Hagrid and convinces the professor in his stupor to give him the true memory. This memory reveals that Riddle inquired about the creation of Horcruxes, devices that store a portion of the creator’s soul to allow them to live indefinitely. Dumbledore reveals that Riddle’s diary and his mother’s ring were two of seven Horcruxes that Riddle had created, and that they must track these down and destroy them to make Voldemort mortal.

Meanwhile, Harry continues to be suspicious of Draco’s actions, following him around the school but no success in determining what he seeks. Harry believes Draco to be behind two indirect attempts on Dumbledore’s life, one through a cursed necklace that Katie Bell, under an Imperius Curse, was bringing to Dumbledore as a gift, and another through a bottle of poisoned wine that Slughorn, similarly cursed, planned to give to the professor. The latter is discovered accidently when Ron ingests the poison; though he recovers with medical treatment, he unconsciously mumbles Hermione’s name in front of Lavender, sending her away crying. After this incident, Harry corners Draco in the toilets and after a short fight casts the Sectumsempra curse from the Half-Blood Prince’s book, severely harming Draco. Snape arrives knowing that he let Draco get hurt and that he broke one of the promises and heals him. Ginny convinces Harry to hide the book in the Room of Requirement to prevent him from using it again; there, they discover, unknown to them, a Vanishing Cabinet, which Draco has been attempting to repair, but think nothing of it further. Ginny also reveals her love for Harry, and they kiss after she hides the book.

Dumbledore implores Harry to help him recover another Horcrux, the location of which he recently learned. The two apparate to a seaside cliff, and enter a cave where the Horcrux is located. On a small crystalline island, Dumbledore forces Harry to make him drink a mind-altering liquid in order to reveal the Horcrux. While Dumbledore recovers from the liquid, Harry recovers the Horcrux, a small pendant. Harry tries to help Dumbeldore recover, but they are attacked by numerous inferi. Dumbledore recovers in time to set them aflame, and the two return to the Astronomy Tower at Hogwarts.

Dumbledore, still weakened by the trial, instructs Harry to go to get Snape. However, before Harry can go, footsteps are heard, and Dumbledore tells Harry to hide on the lower floor. The footsteps belong to Draco, who prepares to kill Dumbledore, but cannot bring himself to do so. Meanwhile, with the Vanishing Cabinet fixed, Bellatrix and other Death Eaters are able to invade Hogwarts through a similar cabinet at Borgin and Burkes, and join Draco in the tower. Snape silently arrives on the lower floor, indicating to Harry to stay quiet, and then goes upstairs, joining the other Death Eaters. Snape then casts the killing spell Avada Kedavra on Dumbledore, throwing him over the side of the Tower and killing him. Snape, Draco, and the other Death Eaters depart the school, Bellatrix casting the Death Eaters’ sign over the school, destroying the Great Hall and setting fire to Hagrid’s hut in glee. Harry tries to stop them with the Sectumsempra spell, but Snape deflects it and stuns him. As he departs, he explains that he is the Half-Blood Prince and the creator of the spell.

Harry returns to the school to find the staff and students mourning over Dumbledore’s death. Harry walks over to Dumbledore’s body lying in front of them, grieving as Ginny comforts him. When he returns to the late headmaster’s office one last time, McGonagall confronts him and asks him to open up to her, but he does not comply and leaves. A portrait of Dumbledore can be seen hanging on a wall behind them.

Harry reveals to Ron and Hermione that the Horcrux they got was a fake, containing a message from an “R.A.B.” that stated he had already taken it, but is also seeking to end Voldemort’s life. Harry tells his friends that he does not plan to return next year, instead seeking out R.A.B. and the other Horcruxes so that he may put an end to Voldemort; Ron and Hermione remind Harry that they are his friends and will help alongside him in his goal.

It seems that the secret long-lost pages ripped from the diary of Abraham Lincoln assassin, John Wilkes Booth and found on his corpse, are a secret no more. And egghead worry wart Gates is wringing his hands over the implication in those tattered pages, that his possibly bad news ancestor Thomas Gates, may very well have been a Wilkes Booth co-conspirator. The scholarly party animal sleuth that he is, Gates lines up a bunch of brainy helpers for company. Including a couple of ex’s, among them his former honey archivist Abigail (Diane Kruger) who’s currently shacking up with a geeky White House curator, and his cranky ancient Native American linguist Mom (Helen Mirren), who has been estranged from veteran treasure hunter Dad (Jon Voight) for 32 years, and it’s got something to do with tequila and bad parenting. Harvey Keitel looks mostly bored while doing desk duty as the resident authority figure and voice of reason among all these stressed out adventurers. Meanwhile, Ed Harris as the film’s designated baddie, repeatedly runs interference on the intrepid egghead alliance, thereby extending the interminable running time of this goofy, annoyingly convoluted treasure hunt to over two hours.

In the end, all of this riddle mulling and puzzle head-scratching adds up to three Statues of Liberty, two US presidents – one of them assassinated and the other kidnapped, – and the British conspiring with the Confederacy in the American Civil War. Oh, and Aztecs burrowing under Mount Rushmore, don’t ask. Though kids may go for this treachery lite, you know there’s a problem right away when the characters are far more excited about this adventure and its outcome, than you are. It’s also not very helpful to generate suspense, such as it is, when the lost and found treasure always winds up in the last place you happen to look. Too bad such a stellar combo cast had to get dumbed down for such inconsequential pandemonium.

When people think about the Bourne series you think one thing…Matt Damon. But to be honest with you, the first movie was created in 1988 as a made-for-TV adaption for the Robert Ludlum novel The Bourne Identity. Richard Chamberlain plays Jason Bourne who washes up on a beach and is cared for by a local doctor. This is different from the fishing boat that he ends up on in the recent film. He has no memory of anything but is determined to figure his life out. Basically it follows the same lines as the more current film, but with a few small differences. All in all its a great prequel to the new film if you have not seen it. I would recommend that you see this film before the others and not afterwards…I think the Matt Damon version is much more action packed and much better graphics which is a plus to me. All in all its not a bad film to rent if you are really wanting to get into the “Jason Bourne Affect.” Or you can just download it free…at the bottom of this post lol.

“The Bourne Identity” is an action movie masterpiece. Never have I seen a thriller directed this slickly, or a bland plot written so fully. Unlike the rest of this summers fun, this is not about trying to stop a nuclear terrorist attack or aliens from taking over the world, but rather a film about a character trying to rebuild. It’s seems like small pickings, but this is actually the best movie of the summer so far. I challenge anyone to find better action, better characters, or better acting in a film this summer. “The Bourne Identity” just takes them all and turns it into a thrilling, compelling chase from Switzerland to Paris. One of the best surprises though comes from the surprising performance by Matt Damon. Not only does he do the stunts to perfection, but he also has the tortured hero look that makes the character very compelling. The seriousness and intelligence he shows here makes him a great choice to play Bourne, playing him as a knowledgeable and skilled killer trying not only to stay alive and figure out who he is, but also to regain the humanity that the job made him lose. Franka Potente is a very strong partner for him, and Chris Cooper, who spends much of the film barking orders, proves to be an exceptional nemesis. All this, combined with great stunt work, makes The Bourne Identity into a solid thriller not to be missed.

The Bourne Supremacy is a serviceable thriller – no more, no less. This may come as a disappointment to those anticipating something on the same level as the surprise hit 2002 movie, The Bourne Identity. Sadly, the cinematic second installment of Robert Ludlum’s trilogy falls short of its predecessor in almost every area, except perhaps acting. There’s nothing wrong with any of the performances in this movie; it’s just that the actors aren’t as important as they were two years ago. Action has moved to the fore, shouldering aside plot and character development in order to maintain the frantic pace that director Paul Greengrass believes is necessary to retain his audience’s attention. At its heart, The Bourne Supremacy is a revenge picture. There’s nothing more subtle or deeper going on here, although there is a secondary plot about a group of Russians. Character development is perfunctory. We learn a few more things about Bourne’s past, and he shows signs of a conscience. However, he was more interesting in the last film, when he was foundering to discover who he was. This time around, Bourne is just a relentless killer, at least until the final 30 minutes, when he displays more compassion than we expect (or, in some ways, prefer).

The Bourne Ultimatum is the final film in what has been an amazing and action-packed trilogy of thrillers based on the late Robert Ludlum’s novels featuring the same characters and plot. Matt Damon has turned in some of the best work of his career in these movies. He appears at once as invincible and unstoppable as Jason Bourne, yet is also vulnerable and lost. In the first movie, fans learned that Jason Bourne was just a pseudonym and not the character’s true name. In this movie, we finally find out what the character’s name really is. Of course, those people who have already read the books knew that. The first two movies, to a degree, paced the action and played to the tension in scenes. The Bourne Ultimatum goes for the throat on action sequences from the very beginning, but there are still some brilliant twists and turns to the plot that will catch the audience off balance. The world seems to have rediscovered Robert Ludlum through these movies. Several of the late author’s novels have been recently reprinted, and there’s even a new film adaptation of The Chancellor Manuscript underway starring Leonardo DiCaprio. It seems as though Hollywood has finally figured out how to make realistic spy thrillers and is doing a bang-up job of choosing source material the same way Quentin Tarantino did when reinventing the crime thriller using Elmore Leonard’s books.
