The Twilight Saga: Eclipse breaks midnight record!

For all those Twi-Hards out there, I have some amazing news and some not so amazing news for you. I always start out with the good news because I always wait to gauge how you feel when I slap you in the face with the bad stuff. The great news for you guys is that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse broke the midnight opening record when it made over $30,000,000 at over 4,000 theaters. The sad news is that not only did the movie recieve only 51% rating on RottenTomatoes, but it only got a 3.2 on IMDB. While this may not have affected opening weekend numbers, I have a feeling that this movie will not continue to gross that much money. I personally have no interest in seeing it although my girlfriend has said that its an amazing movie. The bad reviews are flowing through in spite of the increasingly high numbers:

This is just a sample of the reviews that Eclipse has been getting. Hopefully you can get past the obvious little girl themed romance and enjoy a half decent vampire movie (although I wish there was more action).

Demonoid goes down New Message to users

As we all know, Demonoid.com went down a few weeks ago and has not come back up since. There was just a basic message at first but now they have posted a new message for all users:

The site will return as soon as possible, but there was a problem that caused data loss and the person who can help us get the data back is not able to help at this moment. The site will return when we can get his help

A loss of a some months worth of activity including registered users and torrent submissions is to be expected because the backup we are hoping to get back is not up to date, so please be prepared for it

uTorrent – Gateway to Torrents

So I realize that if you have never downloaded torrent files, you have probably never figured out how to get the movies from the various sites that I link to. I have decided to hook you up with the program that will save your life. If you are downloading the movies without this program you are probably getting less than adequate speeds but with uTorrent, your downloads will be as fast as your internet will allow.

System Requirements? There basically are none if you ask me. Unless you are living in ths stoned ages, this will not be a problem. It works on everything from Windows 95 on a 486 to Windows Vista 64 bit. I am not sure about Windows 7 yet, but I am sure you can get it to work if you run it as administrator. If you have any problems with it you can either email me or go to their help forums. This is not just a windows program as it works with almost all forms of Linux, OSX (minus Darwine), and other operating systems.

Updating the Blog again!

I am sure that you have noticed a lot of changes to Fetchblog in the past few weeks. I have been out of town but have done some soul searching and have decided to stick with this theme for a while. I hope you get some enjoyment on the way that it is set up, because I will be adding things to the site from here. I do not think the physical look will change much over the next couple of years, but I will be slowly adding new ideas to the site. If you have any questions, comments, or ideas please feel free to let me know by sending me an email to fetchblog @ gmail dot com.

Some of the great ideas for the site have come from you guys. I really appreciate all the support I have been getting from the Blue Meep and others who have been there through the best of times and the worst of times. Keep up the great work guys. Best Media Player Program

So I write all these posts about movies and what not but I have never really given you a way to watch it. Well most computers come with Windows Media player or whatever the Mac style computers are coming with these days. I am here to tell you about the greatest program out there. VLC Media Player is great because its simple, gets to the point. If you ever download a movie off of the internet or any media for that matter, 9 times out of 10 this program will play it. What lead me to this program was the fact that I had downloaded a movie and was not getting any sound out of Windows Media Player. It was playing the video but I couldn’t hear anything. Well after searching 3 hours for different codecs that might help this situation out, I saw on the forum that someone had heard of this new program called VLC Media Player. This was a few years ago of course, but I think I have finally used it enough to let you know that I have not used Windows Media Player for almost 3 years now. I went back and forth for a while, but ended up choosing VLC due to its full length of features without the whole user interface package. Windows Media Player adds all of this crap in that I don’t want nor need in a player. All I want my program to do is play a movie and maybe play some music also. This does both very well. It even has an MPEG encoder. They have a Firefox Plugin for it and also the ActiveX plugin which a lot of computers don’t have. I have not tested this program to the full extent of its abilities only because I need it for very little. This program is by far the better choice when choosing a new media player. The best part about this program is that its 100% free. I dont think I could put it better any other way. This player is great, its free, and its yours if you just go to their website. I have this weird obsession with penguins and cones. I think the penguin portion of my obsession has come from Linux and my girlfriend. The cone obsession can only be described and unknown. I would like, however, to say that this program is essential in the process of getting movies off of the internet. Wow, just looked this up but there are an average of 1.8 downloads per second of this program. Thats pretty crazy if you ask me. Check it out if you dont believe me.

Cat 5E Cables

Judging by the title, you may or may not know what a Cat 5 cable is…think of it as the link between your house and the rest of the world. Its the cable that connects you to local restaurants, sporting events, everything and everyone. In my opinion its the most important cable a computer can have…without it you are lost to the world (unless you have a wireless card). I have found the best site for Cat5e patch cable, in case you get a new computer, lose a cable…or in my case, your kitty chews through it because you have it gaping across the apartment lol.

Saw II

For anyone who considered the surprise success of last year’s low-budget horror flick Saw to be a fluke, the stellar opening-weekend numbers for Saw II prove that Lions Gate has a genuine franchise on their hands. While it’s impossible to say at this point whether the series will have the longevity of the Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street films, moviegoers can probably look forward to seeing a new Saw every October for the next few years. That’s actually not such a terrible proposition because, unlike the subsequent Nightmares and Fridays, the Saw films seem to be improving as they go along. Saw II is by no means a masterpiece of the genre, but it’s a slickly made picture that more than delivers on the promise made on its poster-oh yes, there will be blood.

The original Saw opened with one of the best first acts in recent American horror cinema. Two men wake up to find themselves chained to the wall of a locked bathroom with a corpse, a gun, a tape recorder and a saw lying between them. They soon learn that they are part of an elaborate game designed by a serial killer known as Jigsaw. Unlike most boogeymen, Jigsaw doesn’t murder his victims with an axe or razor-sharp claws. His modus operandi is to place them in life-or-death situations that test their survival instincts. If they play by his ghoulish rules and live, they’re free to go. But if they can’t do what he demands-and frequently they can’t-they meet an untimely end. Part of the fun of Saw came in watching the two main characters piece their captor’s game together.

Unfortunately, the movie squandered this intriguing premise by repeatedly cutting away to a second plot thread involving a vengeful cop who was hunting Jigsaw. Instead of adding to the film, this poorly conceived storyline felt like cheap filler. Every time the movie left that room, it brought the narrative momentum to a dead stop.

Actor Shia LaBeouf, who stars in the next Indiana Jones movie, suffered immensely on the sets after injuring himself.

LaBeouf slipped during a sword fight scene and injured his leg. He plays Indiana Jones’ sidekick in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull starring Harrison Ford as Jones, thesun.co.uk reports.

He said: “This was the first movie I got injured. I pulled the rotator cuff on my hip, which was not fun, and that was with me for three or four months after. We were doing a sword fight in the jungle and I did something I wasn’t supposed to do and it was very wet and everything was moving and I hurt myself.

“I had to do Electronic Stimulation Therapy, where you strap a box to your leg and shock your muscle to where you can’t feel it any more. Every three hours you have to go back and do it again.”
